Bezel Set Engagement Rings

March 28, 2018 //  by Kellie W. Leave a Comment

Bezel set engagement rings are very beautiful and securely set rings. The most common gemstone found in them is a diamond. When you have purchased a very expensive diamond, it is certainly a comfort to know that it is safe and secure in a bezel setting. What else should you know about bezel set engagement rings?

Bezel Set Engagement Rings

Bezel settings are probably the earliest type of settings used to attach gemstones to jewelry. A bezel is defined as a metal band that contains a groove that an object fits into, and a flange, or lip that extends out over the object. Jewelers sometimes refer to bezel settings for diamonds as “rub-over” settings. The setting is very smooth will not catch on anything, like clothing. A precious metal band completely surrounds the diamond, protecting it and holding it securely. The diamond will never chip because there are no edges exposed, and the metal band holds the entire upper edge or girdle of the stone, so it can’t slip out.

Semi bezel set engagement rings (sometimes also called half bezel or partial bezel set rings) are also very common for diamond engagement rings. The diamond in half bezel set engagement rings is surrounded only partially by the rim of the setting. This is also a very secure option, and more of the beautiful stone can be seen this way.

A unique bezel set engagement ring is one of the most elegant and sophisticated looking rings you can purchase. If you are someone who dresses up often, this type of ring will always look perfect, and will never cause those unsightly snags on your clothing. For someone who is very active, or works in an atmosphere where a ring might take accidental blows occasionally, this would be the perfect setting to have because the protective band around your diamond will keep it safe and there will be no worries about a prong breaking and the diamond falling out.

Your engagement ring is one of the most important purchases you will ever make, and so you should consider all of your options very carefully. Choosing a bezel set engagement ring will ensure that you will always look beautifully elegant and sophisticated and that the precious diamond on your ring will never be damaged or lost. It will look lovely with your diamond earring studs, your emerald earrings, your pearl strands, and all of your other jewelry treasures. To ensure that the bezel setting is high quality and has been fitted to your diamond correctly, always shop with a reputable jeweler that you trust to give you the best possible product for your money. To me, bezel set engagement rings sound like definite winners!
