Know the brand and the model of your watch – Following this tip will make it easier for you to find the right steps that you need to follow. This is because most of the time, they are already posted in the main website of the brand. This will also tell you if soaking your watch in a solution is the best practice. Always remember that certain models out there are more fragile than the others.

Remove the watch from your body – Most of the tutorials are dedicated to teaching you how to clean a watch will advice you not to clean your watch while you are still wearing it. Removing your watch will make it easier for you to clean it more efficiently.

Use a microfiber cloth instead of a ragged cloth or tissue – Using an ordinary cloth to clean your watch can only produce more scratches since they are too rough for the job. Using a cloth that is too soft on the other hand might not be able to accomplish the task of wiping away all of the dirt that is embedded in the crevices.

Use the right types of chemicals – There is no doubt that the most effective way to make sure that your watch stays bacteria-free is to use alcohol. However, deep-seated dirt may require stronger chemicals such as jewelry cleaner. In this case, you need to use these chemicals sparingly. It is better to read the set of instructions on how to clean a watch that is usually printed at the back of the bottle of these chemicals.

Don’t forget the straps – Learning how to clean a watch does not stop at cleaning the facade. You should also clean the straps, especially the side that comes in contact with the skin. This is considered as the dirtier part of the strap since sweat and moisture can cause bacteria buildup. These two things can also cause unflattering discolorations.

These are just some of the tips that you need to remember in order to clean your watches properly. There are other great tips out there that you need to find out so that you can make your watches look brand new.
